Project description:
The project will integrate initiatives established by ICA, UE, and other organizations that focus on the argriculture and infastructure which primarily aid the male population. Turning instead to women, this project proposes to assist female artisans in one of the most productive and promising sectors for the foreign market. The project will promote the sustainable development of artisinal production in the province, directly beneifting 10% of the aboriginal population and indirectly benefitting the entire aborginal population of the area by fostering a stronger economic fabric.
General Objectives: Creation of a realiable income for vulnerable groups, by way of the development of sustainable production activities and organization at the local level. In addition, the strengthening of the socio-economic and cultural communty of the indigenous residents of the area.
Obiettivo specifico: The development of the artisinal sector of the region, particularly for women, improving earning power for 720 artisan families (10% of the aborginal population), through the introduction of improved production processes, an improved commercial system, and increased awareness of aboriginal artisinal production trhoughout the Formosa region.
Realized Outcomes: • Construction and preparation of 7 new centers of coordination and training (2 already exist).
• The beginning of the production of Chaguar in 30 hectars and construction of a nursery and an experimental field for the cultivation of Chaguar.
• Creation of a credit base of the laboratory.
• Construction of a program for commerical support.
• Analysis of question and benefits of the indigineous market, creation of a commerical brand, stipulated in accordance with the vendors and merchants, that reflects a local speciality.
• Introduction of quality control in artisinal workshops.
-Advertisement of artisinal production as well as the project.
• Training in administration, techonology, and production that allows for self-sustainable development.
Expected Outcomes: • 9 artisinal workshops that aid 720 artisans in the area. • Production and sales doubled in the workshops, with a gross profit increased at least 25%.
• Improvement of the quality of production.
• Advertisement of the local artisinal production
• Transferal to beneficiaries of technical, commerical, and adminstrative skills that ensure self-sustainability.
