Progetto Sud’s main goals are as follows:
• To promote the economic, social, technical and cultural progress of workers in the developing countries, in countries with transitioning economies, and of Italian people all over the world.
• To contribute to the growth of trade union movement in developing countries, promoting economic growth and democracy.
• To go beyond basic assistance and promote real and sustainable development in southern countries, where such growth is possible.
• To encourage a dialogue between different cultures and to promote peace building and peace keeping at national and international levels.
• To promote human rights and children rights.
• To raise awareness about the social and economic gap between the “North” and the “South” of the world.
• To solve problems of migration flows and migration flow management.
• To realize equal opportunities for all, particularly respecting the gender issues.
The main partners of Progetto Sud are trade unions, civil society actors, (NGOs and non-profit associations) and local institutions in developing countries. Cooperating with them, Progetto Sud carries out projects of cooperation in the framework of foreign policy of Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and other international organisations.
